I shed a tear today. A tear for a guy who I employed about 8 years ago and who died about 5 years ago in a plane crash.

One of the more interesting conversations that I have had in the last week focused around the nature of ambition and self-fulfillment. The chap I had it with is in his mid 50s, had a career in computing, that ended and hes now driving for a living.

Far, far too much alcohol. I was invited round to a friends house last night for supper. Naturally, they came to the pub first to have a drink. 5 pints later we left to eat. We then each drank a bottle and a half of wine over the meal.

On re-reading my previous post it does rather appear to me that I sound like an arrogant fool. " Inevitability" and the Gardener are not words that should naturally appear in the same breath. I should stop wondering about it all and just get on with enjoying her company.

Yesterday was almost perfect. I went for a good run, we were busy at lunch, I had a beautfil relaxed afternoon and then I got run over....
Day started with me feeling full of gunk and poison and so I put on all my winter thermals, found my trainers, and headed out for a 5 mile run. As the poison sweated out of my body, my head cleared and I felt so good. I sometimes feel, when running, that if I never stopped, I could find the solution to all my and all the wrolds problems, after about mile 2 you start to get such mental clarity and insight. Endomorphins, I guess....
Then a busy lunch, lots of families came in to celebrate the execution of a young jew 2000 years ago. They do this by eating burgers and drinking coke, the new icons of spirituality for our age......
Two friends turnned up. Father and daughter. We sat and drank beer and cider whilst the pub slowly emptied. It was 3 people utterly at ease with each other, enjoying each others company with no agenda, no nonsense. Its rare that, even with friends, you can just completely relax, let your guard down and talk and listen as equals. It was very nice afternoon. About 5 we realised that we were all completely drunk, they were going to be late to meet their mother/wife and supper was ruinned and that I had to open the pub in an hour......
They left, they pub openned, the young lovelies turnned up for work and I wandered around amonsgt the crowds grinning from ear to ear.
About 8:30 Anna, the bar mnager, was trying to park her car on the sleep slope outside the pub. I stood in front of the car in front of the space she was pulling into. So as to guide her in. Shes a new driver. She hits the wrong pedal, car slams into my legs, pushes me into the car behind me and then stops with my legs trapped between the two cars. Anna panics and cant move the car. I feel blood draining from my face and the weight of a rather large car crushing my legs....Annas having completely fit, screaming and crying. So I cal the pub and the guys come out and sort it out.....I have two rather bruised legs....
Oh, then I go into the pub and am on my phone and some woman comes up to me, lifts up her top, pulls her bra to the side and asks if I like her tits? What kind of behaviour is that? I didn't actually think people really did that, it was only on bad tv reality shows that it happened? Anyway, so she got banned. nice breasts though.....
That was my day. Really, quite good. :)
